Stewards Decision: GES Sebring 12 Hours

Posted on 5 February 2023

3-place Grid Penalty for car #69

Offense: Causing a collision
Lap Number: 83
Offending Driver: Lazaros Filippakos

Explanation:
Car #69 tried to go around the outside of car #66 out of turn 7, but got sideways and lost control of their car, making contact with car #66, sending both off track. Not reckless, because of the unexpected behaviour of the car and the driver did everything they could after that to try and avoid contact. Deemed avoidable, because the #69 could have easily waited until the straight to get past with minimal time loss. Minor contact, so the equivalent of a drivethrough penalty.

The full decision document will be made available to the team managers after the race.
