GEA Indianapolis 4 Hours

Posted on 5 March 2023

60-second Time Penalty for car #49

Offense: Causing a collision
Lap Number: 82
Offending Driver: Perseus Miram

Explanation:
Car #49 tried to overtake car #87 around the outside through turn 3. Car #49 turned in towards the apex of the corner while car #87 was still very much alongside, thus causing contact and a half-spin for car #87. Because car #87 was clearly still alongside and car #49 turned in as if it wasn’t there at all, this is deemed reckless by the stewards. Avoidable minor contact, thus the equivalent of a 30-second StopGo.

The full decision document will be made available to the team managers after the race.
