Got a white license, but want to compete in the GEM Le Mans 24 on 16-18 June? The Road To Le Mans is your chance! On 27 and 28 May, we will be hosting 2 sessions of about 4 hours each, during which you can show us that you’re capable of racing fairly and cleanly.

There will be a maximum of 8 spots in two Global Endurance sponsored Ferrari 488 GTE’s, but I’m sure a few already entered teams will also be watching closely as they might also looking to add a driver or 2 to their lineups.

WHO ARE THESE DAYS FOR?

Any White-licensed drivers who want to compete in the GEM Le Mans 24, with the exception of drivers who have already competed in the GEA and received wildcard invitations for Le Mans. However, if you have been registered in a GEA car, but have not actually raced, you still have to participate in the Road To Le Mans to become eligible to race in the GEM Le Mans 24.

WHAT CONTENT DO I NEED IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE?

You need to own the Le Mans 24h track and the Ferrari 488 GTE. You also need to download the free Porsche Cayman GT4 from the Steam Workshop.

WHAT ARE WE GETTING JUDGED ON?

For the first part of the event, track and car acclimatisation is the key focus area. You will be joining in the Ferrari 488 GTE and the target is to get acquainted with the car and track throughout the session. You don’t need to be fast at the start, but we want to see improvements in the following key areas:

  • Are you able to explore the limits of the track without constantly getting lap times invalidated for track limits? (at least 5 consecutive valid and competitive lap times at some point during the session)
  • Are you able to explore the limits of the car without constantly spinning and/or crashing the car? (clean lap rate >50% at the end and fastest lap time < 4:00)

After a short break, during which people might get eliminated if their performance in the first 90 minutes was sub-par, our main focus will be race craft. After a short briefing, we will switch to the Cayman GT4 (fixed setup) for a few 5-lap races during which you can show your race craft. We are mainly looking at the following key points:

  • Can you race close to other cars without making contact?
  • Are you able to pick your overtaking attempts wisely and in the right corners?
  • Can you defend from other cars fairly?

HOW DO I REGISTER FOR THE “ROAD TO LE MANS”?

All you need to do is keep an eye on the forum for the details, which will include the server information and the details for TeamSpeak, because you need to be online on TeamSpeak during the event for the briefings and to allow the management/hosts to give you feedback during the sessions in order to help you improve.
