Global Endurance, formerly known as Global Endurance Modding, started in 2020 as a small modding group for rFactor 2. Our aim was to create the full 2020/21 FIA WEC grid for rFactor 2. During this project, we had 2 big challenges: 1. there were no LMP1 cars in the game and 2. the Ferrari 488 GTE wasn’t in the game either back then. We created an upgraded version of the Oreca 07 DLC, that functioned as LMP1 and we upgraded an existing Ferrari GT3 to GTE spec to fix that issue.
Soon after, we were joined by two 3D modellers (Valjouss and Frederick Alonso) and started working on our own LMP1 cars, built from scratch. After we built the Ginetta G60-LT-P1, we continued with the Toyota TS050 Hybrid and that’s where our current physics guru April came in. She provided us with some amazing physics sets for the Ginetta and Toyota, as well as the Rebellion and BR1 we released later.
Besides modding, we also started hosting our own endurance racing competition. The aim: providing an experience as close to real life as possible within the limitations of the rFactor 2 platform. After a successful first season, we are now in our second season and already planning the 3rd. We have added an academy tier for rookie drivers this season and are looking to gradually expand the pyramid over the coming years. One thing is for sure: we are here to stay!
